A LITTLE BIT FAT

I'm feeling waaaaay better now that my Whoopie Pie has... uh... left the building. But even though I don't have any Whoopie left in me, my human says I'm looking a little bit fat. Yeah. That's what she said: a little bit fat.

I guess being a little bit fat is is better than being a lot fat, so I was kinda OK with this... until I heard the humans talking about taking a trip to PetSmart tomorrow. Because you know what a trip to PetSmart means.

ME: hey, do the PetSmarts on your coast have scales?
SOPHIE: you mean the thing that says I am 16 petite little pounds?
ME: yeah, that thing.
SOPHIE: then yes, we have the scales. But it won't say you are 16 petite little pounds.

I don't think I've ever been petite, little or 16 pounds. But I do know if I don't lose some of my little-bit-fatness ASAP, I might never eat again. Like, anything. Ever. So today I ran my butt off chasing birds on the beach and think I might have lost some fatness. Tomorrow morning I'm supposed to teach Sophie how to swim and guess I could lose maybe some more fatness doing that?

If anyone has any other fatness-losing ideas, please please please let me know.

The scale is coming!

Oooh Pug, you're not fat, there's just a few more love handles for your human to grab!

Totally just an overflow of love and cuteness, right?

I suppose you cooouuld, if you wanted to, chase bubbles? My Pablo and Pepper love to chase bubbles, and a kids auto bubble machine keeps *them* busy for ages, while my love handles stay nicely intact!!! ;)

We climb seven flights of stairs everyday at least twice a day. When Miss Karen sees that MA-kytah is getting a little chunky she takes us on walks through the neighborhood climbing stairs. There are lots of stairs where we live.

I got a little bit fat once, so my human cut my dog food back a little and replaced it with green beans. I can eat a lot of them and they won't make me tubey. It totally works. I eat carrots instead of cookies too, except on special occasions. Try the green beans, you will love them. Just make sure they're the unsalted kind.

Well.... losing weight is.... uhm, both, dieting and working out. Just working out and still eating a lot doesn't really make you lose weight Pug. Eat little less till the weigh in. Then eat a lot after : ) just like those boxers (not the dogs, but humans) do.
Good luck!

Nugget is right, Puglet. Just have your human take out about a quarter (or less) or your kibble and replace it with unsalted canned green beans. Low in calories, high in fiber and flavor. You can eat tons of them and still not get more tube-ish. And let me tell you, raw carrots are a treat to be savored. I use these tricks on my overweight foster Pugs, and on my Molly Pug when she gets a little chunky monkey-ish. Poor Gus...just can't keep the weight on him. Perhaps you should hang out with Gus and see if his metabolism can rub off on you. It hasn't rubbed off on me...yet. I have high hopes, though. :) And just remember, Puglet, tubey or svelte, everyone is still gonna love you big guy.

Oh Puglet, we think you're dreamy any way you are. But when we feel tubey we walk more and try not to eat too many sweets.

Tell your human more bacon, less whoopie.

Our pug lila (4 years old) had the same problem. Every time we went to the vet, she would've gained :/ The vet even created a chart and named it "Lila's Weight Watcher". Poor baby. Anyway, after trying different things which I will spare you of reading, we finally found a way to get her weight down. She lost 3-4 lbs this past year. You know how dog food bag instructions give proportions of what dogs a certain weight should eat? Well, we reduced that by half. Lila now eats 1/4 cup of nutritious dog food in the morning, and 1/4 cup for dinner. She has unlimited treat (sometimes pieces of carrots, sometimes small pieces of regular dog treats.) She is healthy and looks so much more comfortable at her new weight. Good luck Pug! xoxo

Pug, my mom totally cuts out some of my kibble and loads me up on carrots and strawberrie(yummie). She also gives me low cal Charlie Bear treats. They come in cheese and liver and are not disgusting. I also play fetch in the stream alot-swimming really works!

I know your pain, Pug. . .
Been on a D-I-E-T longer than I can remember.
With all the exercise I am sure that "little bit fat" is soon to be a little but FIT.

My momma makes me run down the hallway for my kibbles. I really like to see if I can catch them before they stop rolling! It must keep the fatness away very well because she has started calling me "Skinny"

roll over on your back and with your paws up, air run like crazy for like 25 hours and then do jump ups - that's were you jump onto the coach and off and on and off. Do that like 600 times. You can do some body crunches where you bring your back legs up to your head. Do something like 400 of them. Drinks lots and lots of water, wear a sweat band around your head cause that'll make you look cool, and only eat yogurt. Good luck!

Good thing your human hasn't met me Puglet...I'm built like a bulldog, broad chest and full o'muscle. People think I'm fat, but mom has to tell them I don't eat any more than my skinnier older bro. I'm just meant to be a linebacker!

You, my friend, are anything but fat!

Hopes you are on your way home, or already there....storms brewing back there sound nasty. Of course, we had Tornado's here in sunny California on Monday!

Time for your human to pull out the bag of carrots! That's what my mom does.

PS - hope you guys are safe back home. Sandy is going to make our life scary in the next couple of days :(

Hey Pug, hope you all are okay! Looks like this storm is heading your way!!! Hope you and Amanda ride it out safely. We here in South Florida are use to this kind of stuff, but a pug from San Fran, might be a little scared!! Good news is that the scale might have to wait!! Your pal Grumpy
