PUGS NOT DRUGS

Our Superfun downtown adventure started when my human decided she had to have one of those Pugs Not Drugs t-shirts. They're really cool, so when she found out Urban Outfitters sells them, we headed downtown to buy one.

Dutch wanted to come, so I didn't get to ride on the subway train this time. But I did get to pose on the trolley thing and I also learned that 'downtown' by car is like 4 minutes from our house (2.4 miles, according to Google). I have a feeling this information will come in handy some day.

Anyway. Back to Urban Outfitters. If you've never been, it's a pretty funky store. It was my first time there but Dutch swears he's been many times. I don't know how this can be true, but somehow he knew exactly where the tshirts lived. Weird.

I can spot another pug from a mile away so it took about 2 seconds for me to find a stack of Pugs Not Drugs shirts. Except they were waaay the heck up on a shelf, totally out of reach. My reach anyway. Even when I got up on Dutch, I was still too
short.

Luckily my human is taller than me and was able to reach the shirts. And after one of the supernice Urban Outfitters dudes helped her hunt through a gazillion shirts for an extra-small (FYI, doesn't exist), we took a tour of the store.

For the record -
except for the lack of food - human stores are so much cooler than dog stores. I've never napped in public, but they had this bed that was so comfy I almost fell asleep. Yeah. Right in the middle of the store. If it wasn't for the food situation, I could totally live at Urban Outfitters.

But my human said we had other places to visit so I said goodbye to Urban's bed. And somehow between the bed and the place you pay for stuff, my human had this genius idea to put me in one of the store windows.

I have no idea what she was thinking, but I was cool with it. This kind of stuff always means loads of cookies and all I really had to do was stand there in a window and strike a few poses.

You have NO idea how insanely funny it was when people walking by noticed me. Especially the people who thought I was a one of those mannequin things and furreaked out when I moved.

I swear half the world took my picture when I was in the window... and the other half took it a few minutes later when we got to our next stop. But you have to wait until tomorrow for that :)

Hi Gosia!

M+M were there too? Crazy! It's like a pug mecca :)

You should have seen all the iphones come out. Luckily none of them were pointed at Dutch - he probably would have melted or something.

Wait til you see where else we went. Another mecca, but not for pugs.

Hey Puglet,
My mom totally got that shirt too. And last week she came home with this t-shirt from Delias. I was Elvis for Halloween last year.

Man you rock on your outings. And how can people not take pictures when they see a celebrity.

Hiya Noodles,

If it makes you feel any better, I've never been to Target, Rite Aid or Kmart (and my human goes to Target like all the time!).

Good thinking Sammy! Why stop at turkey... let's eat EVERYTHING!

I love human stores too, Pug! My mom and dad take me to lots of them when we visit Chicago for my quarterly neurology appointments. I miss the food but everything else is super cool and I get loads of attention. I will have to go to Urban Outfitters next time we're there and have mom buy that t-shirt. Too bad they won't have a super cool pug in the window! I can't wait to hear about what happened next!
Love,
Payton
PS. Happy Birthday to Levi!!

Extra small? Is your human real??

I wish I could have seen you in the window! I'm going to go to my Urban Outfitters and see if they have that shirt...albeit in an Extra LARGE!

PS: Where's Dutch?

Pug Slope said...

Puglet, I'm surprised UO didn't offer you a modeling contract on the spot after seeing you work it in the window. I RARELY get to go into a human store, and if my dad ever has to bring me inside, he says we have keep it on the "DOWN LOW" which means I have to be carried (super humiliating) and we have to rush in and rush out - no time to take any photos or scan the floor for anything edible. You got it good, man!
-Love, Sid.

Hey Pug,
My mom has one of those shirts (Spencer's mom gave it to her as a gift) and she wears it all the time. My complaint, you darn fawn pugs think you're all that! Anyways...mom said to be careful where you wear it in public. She always gets stopped when wearing it and people seem to like the drugs better than the pugs part (hey we do live in Cali after all)
So you get to go into all these stores? Really?? I don't get to go into any stores except pet stores. You may have to show me around downtown Pug...even if you are a fawnie.

THE PUGLET said...

Hiya Payton ~

If you (or anyone else) can't make it to UO, they also sell it online:

http://urbout.co/nDDnFc

I think all people should own one ;)

THE PUGLET said...

Hi Barbara ~

Oh, my human isn't really extra small - it's a men's shirt :)

THE PUGLET said...

Heya Sid,

Well, there wasn't much to eat at UO. But I did find an old piece of gum under a table (I couldn't reach it so it's still there - if anypug visits the downtown San Francisco store, you'll find it under the table when you first walk in).

There is no down low with Dutch the giant spotted wonder around, and Nikon isn't exactly invisible. My human kept waiting for someone to yell as her, but nobody ever did. I think that's how I ended up in the store window.

Anyway, I think UO is the place to go if you're a dog. No down low needed - everybody loved us.

Puglet,
I've never been to any human stores. My dream though, is to go to a grocery store, a butcher shop, a deli, a bakery and McDonald's.

Happy Birthday Levi- I had a lot of turkey yesterday and a Texas Tooth Pick!

I am so mad at urban outfitters because they don't have that shirt in their European online store! I wanted to buy it for my moms birthday which is in two weeks. damn!

Kellee the Caffeinated said...

I just ordered a pugs not drugs shirt from there!!!! yay! so glad your mama got one too!

Puglet:
We just ordered a T-Shirt for our big boy teenage brothers. Aparently anything from UO is cool to them, but they are really excited about the pug shirts. My mom would prefer a Daily Puglet shirt. Any chance your human might design one? maybe a portion of the proceeds could go to a pug rescue org. I bet a lot of your fans would want to buy one.

Puglet, you are so furreakin' lucky to be such a famous, adventure-lovin', wild spreein' dog!!

Heya Puglet... My huMom got that for my huDad. He loves it. UO looks like a very cool store. I wish she would have taken me! I will have to let her know that Pugs and Dutch's are allowed. Looks like you guys had a blast as usual! :) I will eat some carrots (my favorite non-cookie treat, we're out of treats at my house!) for Levi!

Hiya Misiober-Gosia,

Wow. Minnie and Max and me all shopped at UO for the same exact shirt on the same exact day. Weird!

I noticed the Stanford UO keeps the PND shirts at pug level. +1 for that!

THE PUGLET said...

Hey Ollie,

A grocery store, butcher shop, deli, bakery AND McDonald's?? That's a whole lot of human food stores to visit.

I've only ever been to a grocery store, but I'm pretty sure they have all the stuff the other stores do (except for McDonalds). Maybe you should just go there?

Good luck!

THE PUGLET said...

So glad we could help so many of you find PND shirts! Now we can all be cool together ;)

Eddie in Germnany and Misiober-Gosia if you want to do the PayPal thing, we can make shirts happen for you too!!

UO is only 2.4 miles from our house and I wouldn't mind another chance at eating that piece of gum I saw under the table by the entrance of the store. Email me and we'll figure out how to do it :

dailypuglet-at-gmail-dot-com

THE PUGLET said...

Oooh Pearl + Tessa,

You're so right! I bet Dutch would look supercool wearing a PND shirt. Supercool AND manly, seeing as it's blue and not pink :)

THE PUGLET said...

Heya Dallas Maggie!

This new comment system is kinda weird. We didn't see you there.

Don't worry - we didn't find an extra small, but they did have a small so my human got that instead. I guess she'll just have to get bigger.

Roxy&Otis' Mom said...

Puglet,
I have one of these shirts that I bought from a catalog called Delia's...I wear it all the time, and I always get comments on it!

I've got that shirt too! Real cute1

Treat Lover said...

Dear Puglet,
I LOVE this adventure! My mom human actually got this shirt for our dad human, but he never wears it. We can't figure out what his problem is. But he has a big presentation at work tomorrow, so we're all going to try to bark him into wearing his Pugs not Drugs t-shirt. Who can resist? Our mom human has a pug t-shirt that she got at a store called Anthropologie a couple of years ago that she paid WAY TOO MUCH treat money for, but she always wears it when we go for walks or to pug events, so we're pretty proud of her.
Chili says he agrees with Bellatrix that the fawns get too much love, since all the pug t-shirts in our house feature fawn pugs!

Love,
Coco (and Chili)

OMG-OMG-I have been stalking that tee-shirt on the Urban outfitters website since Vinny from the jersey shore wore it on the T.V. show!!!! and also, Jenni from the Flipping out show wore it on T.V. too!!!!!! I am sooo jealous you got one and the big stack of shorts in the picture!!!!! HOW COOL!!!!! :O)

Wish we had an urban outfitters here in South Africa. Might as well get out the paints and make one and then Molly, Tequila and Puggles can do some paw prints on it how cool.

Lucy 'n Aldo said...

Puglet,

Awesome adventure! Our human had to print a tee with pugs not drugs, cos there is no UO in South Africa!

But we really think she needs to order one...just hope it doesn't take like 4-evs to get here.
