THE SANTA THING

It's 12 days until Christmas and I still don't have a pug tree. But I did have my picture taken with Santa.

Sort of.

Our favorite Pug Rescue Lady was showing off some adoptable pugs on Sunday so my human thought it would be cool to say hi and meet the pugs. After three days of napping and Bravo ladies, I didn't care what we did. I love the PRL and meeting pugs sounded really fun.

So we ended up at the place where my human got busted for shooting pugs. And right next to the pug booth was the Humane Society's santa booth. As in pictures with Santa.

My human's not super into the whole Christmas thing (or we'd have a freaking tree!) so I've never had my picture taken with Santa. But I've seen enough of my friend's pictures to know that posing with Santa is about as much fun as posing with a dorky hat on your head.

Please. Don't make me do it.

This Santa was raising money for the Humane Society of Silicon Valley, so I can't really say anything bad about him. None of the dogs I saw seemed very excited about meeting Santa, but their people sure were. And sometimes being a dog means doing stupid stuff that makes your humans happy. Having your picture taken with some creepy dude in a funny red suit is just one of those things.

No! NO! Not Santa!

Luckily I'm a supermodel. And supermodels don't pose with anyone or anything they don't want to. Including Santa. I did let him pose with me though. Don't his boots look way cooler next to my skully harness?

Has anyone here had their pictures taken with Santa? On a scale of 0 to 10, with 0 being a trip to the vet, how much fun was it?

P.S. we haven't done the posing with Santa thing, other than Scarlet's Santa toy.

It depends on the treats he hands out. Usually Santas have candy treats for humans who take a picture with him so why not for us too?

I'm with you Puglet. The Santa dude is kinda creepy/scary and I wouldn't pose with him either. Your picture with his boots is perfect. The less white beard, the better.

We have never had :( Maybe it's because Santa lives in mall, and we are not allowed to go there (wait mom just said that in fact she isn't sure that we are not allowed, hope she will forget to check it !!!!) and our Santa cannot sit like yours outside because it's way too cold in Poland and he would end up with big flu before Christmast which means no presents !!! but we are SURE picture with Santa must be like minus 3 :) hugs PT (Polish Trio)

LOL! Yes, you do make Santa's boots look so much better! And, LOL again with your comment that supermodels don't have to pose with anyone or anything! Oh, you are funny today Puglet.

And, I have had my pic taken with Santa and must say I think I liked it. I am sitting up so pretty and posed so perfect you'd think I'd been doing it all my life. I looked perfect sitting right up on his lap if I say so myself. On a the rating scale I will give it a solid 7 cuz I look so dang good!

According to our human brother and sister who are 2 years old, Santa is way creepy. I don't think I'd like to meet the guy. Our mom said that she had enough trouble getting two two year olds to sit with the guy so she wasn't going to try getting two pugs to sit with him either.

I've done the Santa pictures for a couple of years now. I can honestly say I don't like it. I don't like being held by strange people and the only person holding the Nikon should be my mum.
This year wasn't so bad. I actually knew the Santa (shhhh) and mum stayed right behind the camera gal so it was almost like her taking the pic.
Personally, I'd rather wear a stupid hat.

Hey Puglet
Last year we had our picture taken with Santa. On a scale of 0 to 10 it was about a 1.

Mom made us holiday scarves (we all matched) hauled us to this tiny little doggie store TINY LITTLE STORE,there were big dogs, snarly dogs..it was awful.

It gets worse the store was a doggy store and we didn't get one free treat.

It gets even worse, Santa was freaking creepy. He was breathing heavy under the lights so his face matched his suit..more worse he didn't even smile.

Our first Christmas picture with Stone Faced Santa.

That was our last picture with fat man!

Ellie, Emmitt & Eli
Oh, we still have the picture if you want to see it.

The day my Mom got me she was at a fund raiser for the humane society so my new Aunt picked me up and took me there. As soon as I got there and met my new sister, Megan, they plopped us on Santa's lap and took our picture. I was very brave and everyone says the picture is really nice but, as soon as I got down, I peed on the quilt santa was sitting on, just to show them what I thought of the whole thing! They never made me do that again!

OK, so it's not just me who thinks Santa is creepy. Dutch was with us too, but my human didn't even try to get his picture with Santa's boots. She was afraid of melting or imploding or something.

Maggie, you are BRAVE.

Jasper, you are SMART. I've never used pee as a weapon :)

Poozles, Santa gives out snacks??

3E's... matching scarves AND Santa? I'm sorry.

Bailey + Buddy, you just made my human snort tea.

"Our mom said that she had enough trouble getting two two year olds to sit with the guy so she wasn't going to try getting two pugs to sit with him either."

Mochi and I posed with Santa Sunday. Check out our pic here:

Not bad, eh? See, with me it's all about the end game. See my focus? Yeah, my grandmaw was standing next to the camera guy with a bag of home-made cookies. I knew I just had to sit there and I'd get cookies. Mochi's still a little skeptical. You can see it on her face!

As far as going to the vet is concerned, we're weird about that too. We love our vet!! Hahahaha.....

Hey PUGLET!

I thought maybe you could post something or an addendum to your post about the new petition going on at change.org.

Someone started a petition to stop Petland from selling puppy mills!

So far they have 54,000 signatures. Let's spread the word and get a massive drive for signatures!! No more puppy mills.

Thanks so much!

Hey Pug,
I've never seen Santa before. Not sure I would like to sit on a stranger's lap, but if he gave out treats, I'd be fine. But I must say that trips to the vet are way better than a 0. I'd give them 7 or 8 on the scale for sure! I sucker them out of at least 3 treats every time I go...and that can't be a 0.
Love,
Payton

I made Barney abd Beulah do it once. It was right after I had gotten Barney and his rescue were doing Santa pics as a fundraiser. It was also in a tiny store and they weren't giving out any treats! Also, Barney was still pretty freaked out AND crazy excited at the same time. It was a little too much dog in one small space. From now on we'll just wait for Santa to come down our chimmney...and trap him behind the glass in the gas fireplace!

I did and it wasn't too bad. I like going to the vet, so maybe I'm not the best judge. The 'rents put the pic on their Christmas card and it's going out to everyone. Ugh the humiliation. I did get some yummy treats though! They came from Noodle and his Grandma. Just so you know, that Santa dude brings treats and goodies. So you should totally go with it.... After all, how can he be bad?

I loved santa! He had major treats! He also happened to be at our local pet store and so mommy couldnt refuse picking me out a new collar and some yummy treats! :) the best part was all proceeds went to shelter dogs. I was once a shelter pug too! Mommy said we have to wait to get the pictures untill thursday. :( i will send it then! On a side note, my cousin a collie terrier mix was afraid of santa. Im not afraid of anyone with a treat!

No pics with Santa. My poodle, Chelu, has trust issues with strangers (ever see a poodle go poodle?) And I am her faithful companion, so I mostly hang out with her at home or on walks in the neighborhood. My mom's first pug, Ascii, used to like dressing up, she had lots of outfits, but she didn't like strangers holding her. Me, I like strangers, and strange dogs, and I'll wear antlers or hats, but mom's pretty good about not doing it too much. So anyhow, basically no Santa photos, which seems to be a good thing.

We are split on both the issues of Santa and the vet. Zoey loves the vet and Santa. She says that Santa is like a big human cushion with his cuddly red suit on. Well Phoebe is skeptical about him and hates being groped by the vet. So would someone tell her to stop getting hurt and she wouldn't have to go all the time (she's on the DL, again). So we guess it just depends on the type of pug you are but all want to make our humans happy and do the Santa thing and just about anything else to keep them happy.

Hey Puglet - Luckily my 'rents never thought to get a photo of me and the white-bearded dude. I'll have to make sure they don't see your post or else they may get ideas.

I've been threatened many times with the Dreaded Santa Photo but it's never happened because my human doesn't have the time to take me. I'm sure it ranks up there with going for an anal gland extraction.

We go to see Santa every year, we think he is a pretty o.k. dude. Buttering up to him, being the good little pugs we are, our stockings are always full on Christmas morning. Just saw him on Saturday, good treats, good times (way better then the nail clipping we had just had done). I would say a 9 (he could use a better background).

I've posed with Santa. I was scared much like everything else in my life.

I've posed with Santa 3x this year. I'd give it a 4, because I always get yummy eatables and a nice walk afterwards. :@{

Our mom made us pose with Santa! They had a Santa's grotto at a Dog Refuge in Perth. It was really hot and the line was LONG ... thankfully mom kept us in the shade and bought us some new toys to keep us entertained!
Santa wasn't too bad...he had a white beard which tickled my nose...and I got my own back by licking his cheek...i was actually going for the beard...but missed haha Brutus wasn't interested in the man in the red suit...he just wanted the squeaky toy the photographer had! haha
