THE US IN WE

photo of us by Tamara Watson

I hope everyone had an awesome Thanksgiving, full of pie and turkey and more pie! If you didn't get to eat any turkey or pie, check out these SYOP pictures of the lucky pugs who did.

My human says the holidays aren't just about food. Or shopping. Or those weird leafless trees they just started selling on like every corner. She hasn't exactly told me what else holidays are about, but I think they have something to do with humans getting warm and fuzzy about stuff.

Like today my human is working on some stupid 1k Pugs blog post called 'the us in we'. It's all about how my paws and her thumbs are the "us" behind the "we" you read about on the 1Kpugs site. But it's also about all the awesome people who are sending in ideas, helping us fix problems, and spreading the word and stalking pugs.

You know, everyone who's helping us be a better we.

I told her if she's going to talk about usses and wees, she better let me say something about it here on the DP too. Because without everyone here, there wouldn't be an us. Or a we. Or whatever me and my human and Dutch are.

I mean, we'd still be here. But we wouldn't be here.

You know what I mean. So big fat thanks to everyone and everypug, pug-fraction, non-pug and kitty who comes here everyday. You/we/us are the best you/we/us on the whole entire the internet.

Janey + Pie

Today's Dutch-style SYOP is from Janey, Napoleon and their human Jennifer. Jennifer says Ms. Janey doesn't like taking pictures, so getting her to do this was like pulling teeth. I don't know about you, but I'd totally let someone pull my teeth for a piece of pie. Right?? Dutch says he totally understands how Janey feels though.

Thanks Jennifer, Janey, and Napoleon :)

Scarlet & I love to hold hand/paws so this picture makes us very very happy. Thank you for sharing your softer side.

We love Dutch's picture pick! Good thing the pie was there to distract Janey for the picture :)

Hey Buddy~

thanks for not telling anyone about my inner sweetness :) My human said if she had more brain cells and and and an extra set of thumbs she'd say stuff like this in bigger ways & way more often. How embarrassing would that be!?!

Ps: Thumbs owes your human a big fat thanks + an email (or three)...

Hey Pug it's me Chunkky from Plantation. You're human is right the holidays are not just about food and I think we need to take a moment and think about all the things we have that we are so grateful for like food, a great family to live with, and a roof over our heads!! I like the you/we/us stuff sounds like the making of a Pug Nation!! How cool all of the pugs around the world reading your blog!! Very Cool. I received the book Awkward Family Pet Photos, while my human laughed her head off I was really mortified at what some humans will do to get that photo!!! Enjoy your day. The Plantation Pugs!!!

oh Puglet, that was very well said. usses are happy to be part of the wees, or is it wees are proud to be the usses? either way we're happy we found you.

Napoleon, Janey, & Jen

p.s. Janey is totally strutting around the house and showing off to Napoleon now that she has been featured on DP.

Oh that such a nice thing to say!

Puglet,
Your human is 1000% right! The leafless tree holiday is about doing nice stuff instead of buying nice stuff (though I think the eating part is very important).

We're so happy to be part of the you/we/us here at DP. You're irresistable!

Great photo of Janey. I'm relieved to find out that she also belongs to the Don't Point That Thing At Me club. I used to think it was only me and Dutch.

Oh Pug, that is the sweetest most lovely of things to say. Your whole family is very special and the community that surrounds you.

Hi Payton ~

Yeah. I guess my human has wanted to take that picture for like ever, but never could because she needs her hands to hold Nikon.

Our friend Tamara just got a Nikon (just like Nikon except she calls hers Dwayne), so my human asked if she could take the us/we picture for us. I think Tamara + Dwayne did a pretty awesome job, right??

Hi Meredith + Scarlet,

Honestly? I'm not much of a hand-holder. I mean, I'm grown dude dog and my human is... my human.

But it made my human happy so I did it. And I swear my cooperation had nothing to do with her threatening to bring in a stunt paw (we were at Pug Sunday and there were *lots* of other paws around for her to hold).

Hiya Plantation Pugs!

Glad the book is funny. My human wouldn't let me near it because of the honk. Something about not wanting to spread germs? No idea. But superglad it got to you and made your human laugh :)

THE PUGLET said...

Napoleon,

Sorry dude. I've learned you have to let the big dogs strut every now and then, even if *we* are in charge. I'm thinking as a pug named Napoleon, you totally know what I mean.

Hey Ollie!

Where's your pie picture? You did get to eat the whole entire pumpkin pie, right? Because our anti-pie human actually ate some of ours. Yeah. Mrs. I-hate-pie totally snarfed down some pumpkin. I'm just glad she didn't change her mind about hating whipped cream.

Oh Puglet...you are the best...and I think Tamara did a great job with today's pic! You are so sweet and well, just awesome with the way you think...and I like that!

Puglet,
My human always gets her assignments in on time. Not early- just on time. Between my camera phobia and her inability to take a decent picture, it's quite the production. We'll email our choice photo tomorrow morning.
She came home with pie, whipped stuff, meyers lemons (a cross between a lemon and tangerine- go figure), a seedless pomegranate and jazz apples. See the weirdness?

What a great picture, Puglet. We love reading about your adventures.

Hey Ollie ~

Don't worry, I just wanted to make sure you got your pie! My human is the same way with the last minuteness, except she's late most of the time.

Thanks for the 411 on the Meyer lemon (?!). We have a tree in the back yard that makes them, but my human had no clue what makes a lemon a Meyer.

Uhm, Ollie... my human is kinda confused about one of your fruits. Seedless pomegranate?? Isn't a pomegranate all about the seeds?

Thanks Miss Pearl. I like sharing them with you too.

Dear Puglet, this here is your good pal Howie. I am intrigued by this concept of us in Wee. I also enjoy having a tree in the house, although my maw said it was not intended for what I have been using it for.
happy howlidays!

Dear Puglet and Friends,

We hope that all of you had a Happy Thanksgiving. Unfortunately we could not be here for some days, but we were very touched by today's post.

Mum and I took a course at a Berlin dog institute owned by Maike Maja Nowak, the leading "dog whisperer" in Germany. It was no conventional course with treats, commands and the lot - it rather gave an intensive insight into the personality of dogs and their humans, which means me and Mum.

Needless to say, I was the only pug around and I love Maike!

We have learned a lot and the “The Us in We” was strengthened and highlighted during the sessions. Mum looks through me now as if I was made of glass – almost.

Maike is a dog psychologist and has written a book “Die mit dem Hund tanzt” (She who dances with dogs) which is only available in Germany so far. She says:

“A dog belongs to nobody,

only his ability to form a friendship

and his readiness to give love

allow him

to give

what does not belong to anybody”.

We thought this statement fits perfectly with today’s post.

With love from Berlin,
Carlos Santana and Marieluise

Puglet,
You guys are lucky to have such a fancy lemon tree in your backyard! According to the packaging "Only the best chefs use Meyer Lemons."
As for the pomegranate, my human bought it to investigate this "seedless" claim. Right now it's still ripening. We'll give you an update once we cut that thing open :)
Oh yeah, we just sent my photo entry!
