RETURN TO PT ISABEL

A trip to Pt Isabel was another adventure we had over the weekend that I totally forgot to tell you about. We met Lily, Harry and their people there and had a whole bunch of fun. Now, if you don't live near San Francisco, I'm sorry if what I'm about to tell you makes you jealous. Because on top of being a whole bunch of fun, Pt Isabel has two things I've never seen at a dog park: food and bathtubs.

VERY cool.

Let's start with the food (of course). A sign says the food is open 8AM-5PM, but when I tried to order from the food window, no one came. At first I thought I was too short for the food-window people to see me, so I got Dutch involved. He was plenty tall to see, but the food people never came to take our order.

I wasn't so happy about this. I mean, why open a food window if you're not going to share your food? That's not cool at all. Of course I whined about this to my human and she explained that the food window is for people, not dogs. And sure enough, when she visited the window, a nice lady was there to feed her.

Tip#1: when visiting Pt Isabel, make your human visit the food window for you.

After you've played and are done eating, you can also take a bath at Pt Isabel. I know this might not sound very exciting if you don't like baths. I met a Lab named Ruby in the baths and she didn't seem into the whole bath thing. But when I asked her why, she said it's not the bath part that's bad - it's that a bath means the fun is over and it's time to go home.

But I like baths. Mostly because I like to play in the mud and no human wants to pet a muddy pug - but everyone wants to pet a clean pug. If baths = more attention, I'll totally take one. I even tried to get one at Pt Isabel. But my human said I wasn't dirty enough.

Tip#2: If you go to Pt Isabel, make sure you get dirty enough to take a bath.

I'm sure Pt Isabel isn't the only place on earth that has food and baths. Do you have a supercool dog place where you live??

I wish we had somewhere interesting to go. Florida is a very hot state for us. Plus there's not too many pet friendly areas here. Our human tries to find somewhere to go with us. We're glad that you had somewhere fun to go!

Hi Puglet,
You and Dutch are always having so much fun. I love the food window thing, but what's with the baths. I want to go to Pt Isabel too, but I don't like baths at all. When my human forces me to participate in this water, soapy, scrub, scrub, baby talk nonsense, I try to look as tortured as possible. I've even tried playing dead with my eyes open, but she continues this practice. Any pointers on how to get her stop this behavior?

Whew, once again we were worried...usually you post so early...maybe your tactics are working on your human and she is tired. We were really worried especially with those creepy tres pup heads.

You are a better man than we are (especially since we are two girlies)..no way would either of us voluntarily get in a bath tub! Tessa hates even just getting her wrinkles cleaned by mom.

My human takes me to the Doggy Bar" in Belmont Shore for my birthday. They have a layout you wouldn't believe and I get to order whatever I want! No diet on my berthday! Then we go across the street to the cupcake bakery and I get "pupcakes"! Oh! It's like pug heaven!
I do not want to visit the tub.....but turn on the sprinklers and it's on!

Oh Puglet,
I must admit,I am jealous. We don't have anything as fancy as that around here. We've got nice parks and stuff, but no food counters, or bathtubs. Not sure how I feel about the tubs. I usually get a bath right in the sink. Mom thought it was a good idea to give me a bath outdoors this weekend. I was NOT feelin' it. I guess it might be OK as long as the water was a comfortable temperature.

Alas, San Francisco seems the place to be. You are very fortunate pug, Puglet. Your human may play tricks behind your back, but she totally makes up for it in other ways. You have to agree

Well up here in the midwest with humidity about 900 degrees every day I often just lay in the sun near the porch window in the summer. BUT when my human says the humidity is low I often get to go to the BIGGEST dog park EVER with my friend Mia, the springer spaniel. We play and run until I can't breath anymore....sometimes my human makes me stop because she says I need to catch my breath because I sound weezy or something. All I know is that I LOVE IT and I also get baths after our play time...it ins't as cool as PT Isabel with baths at the park, but I still love getting cleaned up!

Cheers to your doggie play time adventures Puglet! :)

I'm sorry the state of Florida is so hot and unfun. Is anyone else here from there? Maybe you just need to know a secret handshake or something??

Hi Lucy~

I've never tried to stop my human from giving me a bath, but I've learned that you can train humans to give you cookies for doing practically nothing.

Maybe a bath would be better in cookies were involved??

You can fit in a sink?? Do you have great big giant sinks at your house or are you just tiny?

Sounds like I'm glad I don't live in Florida. Or the Midwest place where Edward the Pug is. 900 degrees and humidity??? my human says I start to melt if it's over 70 degrees.

What's humidity??

Hi Puglet! You and Dutch look extrasupercute at the food counter but I can't believe the people behind the counter ignored you. How rude!

I never get to go anywhere and I'm sure there aren't place like that near my house. There's nothing cool here except Popeyes (which is totally cool). And the bath thing? Forget it. I heard Mom tell the poodles' mom that I haven't had a bath in a long time and that I'm overdue. What? I don't think five months is a long time ago but then again I'm on pug time.

Stubby xoxo

Hey Stubbs!

I'd take Popeyes over Pt Isabel any day. Sometimes I think I got the wrong human - mine likes vegetables and only takes us to hikey places. In two years, we've only gone to a drive thru ONCE! And that was on Christmas!

Pearl and Tessa -

You're *totally* right about the sleep deprivation. My human fell asleep on the couch again during that Top Chef show. I fell asleep too. Anyone here know who got chopped?

We aren't big fans of baths, but we've never tried on in a dog bath tub. Maybe that makes a difference. Usually, we just try to look as sad & miserable as possible, so our human will give us extra love & more importantly extra cookies. We are very lucky to live where it's not 900 degrees. Our pug hearts go out to all our pug friends who have to brave the summer months.

Puglet,
Humidity is what makes us pugs melt. Early morning adventures are done really early in the morning, before humidity wakes up. Humidity is not a nice word in my home. It also does crazy things to my Mom's hair.

THE PUGLET said...

Heya Suki~

How's your new bionic leg??

Is your mom related to Stubby's mom? I heard her hair gets crazy in humidity too. Something about a 'fro?

Suki said...

Thanks for asking the new bionic leg. After surgery the Doctor called my Mom, surgery went great! Won't be able to go home till the morning. Staying overnight is great, get lots of attention from the night shift. I even heard one of the nurses talking to my Mom at 9pm. "Awake and resting comfortably", of course I'm awake, don't want to miss any attention. Practicing the "milk-it-for-all-its-worth process". Can see lots of toys, cookies, maybe some bulliesticks on the horizon.

Don't think she is related to Stubby's mom. What"s a 'fro? Mom's hair goes limp.

Kitty+Coco said...

That is a negative, Pug. The best we have gotten is an old, stale milk bone thrown at us through the drive through at the cleaners. Boo.

THE PUGLET said...

Awesome Suki!

I'm kinda jealous of your bionic-ness. And of the HUGE milk-it-for-all-its-worth opportunity you now have :)

Uh, I think a fro is the opposite of limp? Not sure. My hair always looks the same and my human has hair like spaghetti so it never looks different either.

At least your human takes you through the drive thru! I'd take a stale milk bone over nothing any day.
