SO MANY SELFS, SO LITTLE TIME

So, you may have noticed that a certain Flat someone hasn't been around much lately. Well, it's mostly because Green Pug hijacked what's left of my human's brain. But now that my Green self has done his part to save the planet, it's time for my Flat self to get back to work saving recycled dogs.

Phew. Having so many selfs sure can be a lot of work!

Anyway. When we went to the Post Office this morning to send out some more Flat Puglets, I noticed a sign with Flat Ellen and a bunch of dogs on it (a nice post office man let us borrow it for today's picture). Turns out the USPS is trying to raise awareness about recycled pets too!

The new stamps go on sale tomorrow (April 30th) and cost the same as a regular one. The stamps don't raise money for the cause (like the breast cancer ones do), but hope to raise awareness by spreading the word about shelter pets in need. Just like Flat Puglet!

I'll get to the part about Ellen and what she's doing to help later, but for now - next time you buy stamps, ask for the ones that promote adopting a shelter animal. It's a supereasy way to say you care about pets in need and who knows, maybe the stamp YOU buy will make a difference.

* * * FLATTIE NEWS (sort of) * * *

If you've sent us a story about your visit with Flat Puglet and are wondering when on earth the world's going to get to see it... my human is working on getting caught up. Daily Flattie updates will start up again on Monday and you'll get an email from my human saying what day your visit will be added to flatpuglet.com.

Now. If you HAVE a Flattie and haven't sent us anything yet... uhm. Yeah. We need to work on that too. Right now about 35 Flatties from the first batch are totally MIA. We won't name names - you know who you are :) Flat Puglet doesn't have an expiration date or anything, but we want to keep the project alive so please send us something soon!

Hi Puglet! Someone posted something about the recycled dog stamps on fb and it wasn't good. I don't remember exactly what they said but please look into it. I think anything that raises awareness about recycled dogs is a good thing.

I can't wait to see more flattie updates. I know you've been super busy being and rock star and all, but I've missed the flat dude.

Stubby xoxo

Hey Stubbs ~

Hmmmm. I'll snoop around & see what I can find. I think maybe the 'bad' thing is that the stamps don't actually raise any money? My human had the same concern about the Flat Puglet Project.

I told her course it'd be SOOO much better if campaigns like this could raise more than awareness. Y'know, like raise MOOCHO DINERO. But as long as SOMETHING is being done, I think we should be happy about it.

I mean, Flat Puglet isn't DOing anything that actually saves a dog -- but we've gotten a bunch of emails from people saying their next dog will be a rescue. So even though FP isn't doing anything, he's still doing something... right?

Maybe the "issue" with the stamps is that the HSUS is part of the campaign? My mom says they're not a very nice group. People think that they're part of local Humane Societies, and that they help animals in need. But all they do is collect money to pay themselves big money, and lobby for legislation. They've never used money to help animals, and they've never saved any animals.

Heya Josie!

That picture of you & Flattie in the swing is still one of my favorites. If my man Stubby didn't get to you first, and if I didn't already maybe love Jenny, and if you lived in CA and not IL, I might have asked you out :)

Hiya Arnie ~

Google says legislation is important, but to raise all that money and not use it to save animals? That just sounds dumb.

What are they thinking??

Hiya Pug,
We think that you are doing something to help out all the homeless animals. We have talked to so many people that we would not have if we didn't look crazy taking pictures of a flat pug in random places. So many of those people told us that they never even heard of rescue groups or thought to look in shelters first. But if you want to raise money; FP ca go non-profit, something like the Flat Puglet Foundation, for animals in need. You probably can think of a better name for it but you get the idea. Speaking of ideas, Pepsi is giving away money for ideas to make the world a better place & we thought you should check it out. There are some ideas there; to build animal shelters that need money. While you are there maybe you can apply for a grant to help with the FP Project or start an animal non-profit. We know you're very busy & if you need any extra paws & hands, you can always call us.

I agree, it is dumb. That's why we love PROS - all their money goes straight to the pugs. And you're doing a great job, making people aware of animals that need homes. My mom had about a hundred people send the video to her. See, you're making a difference. And that sure counts for something.

Puglet, my man! We like organizations that give to the animals too...I am going to a special Black & Fawn gala with BellaTrix this weekend hosted by PugSavers of Sacramento. Grandma made us special bow ties to wear to our ball. This way, we can help pugs in need...and look smashing while doing so.

Hiya Puglet,
I'm all for helping recycled dogs. Mom has worked for 2 non-profit animal welfare agencies, so she knows how that works...and it's not always in the animals favor. Flat Puglet is important because it shows that it isn't always about the money, but awareness. Mom and dad are going to Disneyland soon with FP, and really that's the happiest place on earth! He's going to have fun!!

Puglet,
By raising awareness about recycled dogs you are raising awareness about the rescue organizations that need monetary support. So indirectly, I'm sure you are making a difference in that way too. Flattie gets peoples attention in a fun way. And I bet the fact that he doesn't ask for money, makes alot of people more open to what he has to say.

Hey Puglet. I just wanted to give a shout out to the people at Pacific Pug Rescue who do such a great job of recycling pugs here in Portland. We also have the Pug Crawl coming up to raise money for the Oregon Humane Society. I'll bet if you came up you would win a prize! Maybe even see Jenny?

I'm thinkin' Good Morning America will be calling next and then maybe a visit with the First Lady. I'm sure she would give you lots of carrots from her garden. I'm sure with all the publicity your super human human is very busy. My Forever Mom will definately buy dog stamps. So where is Pug Saturday???? My Forever Mom is always bummed on Sundays coz' she has to work and knows how fun these pug get togethers are. I know I would have a lot of fun and want to meet you and Dutch. I'll bring lots of Pirate's Booty too. Have a good weekend. Love, Tink

Oh and one more thing. I hope your superhuman human got our Flat Puglets pix from the wine country with the sheep. Our Flat Puglet has been sitting by the door just staring. It kinda freaks me out coz he doesn't eat or sleep or anything. I could never sit that still for that long. I think he's ready to continue his adventure and ride with the lonely man in his little car that comes to our house and brings us letters and packages. Can't wait to read about Flat Puglet on Monday. Bye, Tink (and Flat Puglet)
