TOYS FOR TREES?

As soon as we got our weird leafless Delancey Street tree home, my human said we had to decorate it. I didn't really know what that meant and my friend Google didn't exactly help me out:

decorate: to furnish or adorn with something ornamental or becoming; embellish.

Uhm, yeah. Well, it turns out that decorating a tree means you buy it special toys that dogs aren't allowed to play with (technical term: ornaments). Then you stick the toys so high up on the tree that dogs can't reach them (I guess this is the 'embellish'-ing part).

Honestly? Decorating a Christmas tree isn't really much fun if you're a dog. I played with some of the tree's toys when my human was busy embellishing, but playing with tree toys really isn't that much fun either. Especially when you are caught chewing on them and get yelled at.

So far, this whole Christmas thing seems kinda lame.
When I mentioned this to my human and she called me a scrooge. No idea what that means, but since humans are sooooo into their Christmas, I guess I'll play along. Maybe they know something about it that I don't?

Puglet, we think you look kinda cute with all those lights wrapped around you. Just be careful to not bite down on 'em or else you you'll end up with curly hair.

Puglet... your decorating picture is so cute and you look how I feel... I'm not gettin' this whole Christmas thing either. My humans took me to Pet Food Express and something called Santa held me and took a picture... it was soooo scary! But I got treats on the way home so it was okay. So, Puglet... watch out for that Santa but if you do see him... remember - TREATS!

Hi Puglet! My mom is a scrooge too. Maybe you can ask your friend Google what a scrooge is. I wouldn't be surprised if Mom's picture shows up next to the definition.

Puglet, Christmas is like Thanksgiving. Lots of eating and getting extra stuff that normally doesn't end up in your dish. It's another turkey and pie and assorted treats holiday. I don't get the tree full of shiny cat toys either.

Oh, S&G -- I got SO yelled at the other day for chewing on a plugged-in thing!

It was attached to my human's new plug-in blanket. The thing you plug in looked kinda chewy so I chewed. Next thing you know, my human is TOTALLY freaking out on me. Said something about a "fried pug".

I'm never doing that again.

Hey Spencer!

I keep hearing about this Santa thing. We waited for a bunch of Santas to come to our neighborhood last Saturday but it was raining and I guess Santas don't like rain?

My spotted friend Miley had her picture taken with the Santa thing too. She didn't mention anything about treats though... hmmm... I'm gonna have to look into this.

I haven't chewed on any ornaments or plug in thingy's but our leafless tree has a comfy blanket under it that I'm not allowed to nap on. My human says its not a blanket its a tree skirt. Skirt?!? It must be a she tree.

Oh Puglet, be patient...this is my 2nd Christmas and last year presents were left under the leafless tree for me and goodies YES lots of goodies in something called a stocking hanging on the wall. It even has my name on it. If you are a good boy, someone named Santa Claus will bring you all these things, so no more chewing on the ornaments or this Santa won't bring you goodies.

Ollie - I reeeeally hope Christmas pies aren't a Canadian thing! I LOVE piE!!!

I can't believe your tree has a skirt, Rosie. I hope my human doesn't make me wear one of THOSE for the next picture :(

Santa brings goodies? Really? How much longer do I have to wait for THAT??

Hey Puglet!
We don't get to play with the tree's toys either but they smells funny so we don't really try. My hooman told me the tree will leave us presents if we are good to the tree. Cross your paws your tree leaves you gifts!

Hey Puglet,

Sorry I forgot to mention that when I had my photo taken with that santa guy I got LOTS of treats!!! It was really fun even if he looked really funny. Boka says that if I'm good santa brings lots of stuff like toys and lots of treats!! I'm trying to be very good.

Puglet,
A word of warning: Do Not Eat the paper that wraps the toys and treats. You will get in a lot of trouble with your human & poop glittery. I'm not sure what the big deal was it tasted kinda good. Oh & Santa Paws is the big red human we take our picture with & he gives money to all the recycled pets. He's really nice & squishy--I didn't want to leave his lap plus he gives lots & lots of treats! Keep an open mind about Christmas it can be alot of fun for us pugs.
