PAINTING-PAINT?

Yesterday we went to Home Depot to buy bigger rocks for the backyard (more on that later). Brother Dutch said he got a cookie from the paint department guy once, so even though we were there to get rocks, we dragged my human over to where the paint is.

Nobody gave us cookies, but seeing the paint got me superexcited about painting to help needy pugs.
I started picking out paint colors and everything... until my human said no and dragged us back to the rocks.

ME: Why no? I thought I was going to learn to paint? Like Bellatrix said. Remember, the elephants? How can I paint to help pugs without -
HUMAN: I didn't mean no-you-can't-paint-to-help-the-pugs. I meant no to the paint.
ME: What's wrong with it? Are my colors ugly?
HUMAN: Oh Pug, your colors are fine. But Home Depot paint is different than painting-paint. To paint, you need painting-paint.

Humans have a way of making things soooo complicated, don't they??

I have no idea what the difference is between paint from The Depot and "painting-paint", but I've learned not to ask questions about this kind of stuff. So I just asked if we could go somewhere that sells the painting-paint I need to help pugs.

My human said yes and promised to take me to a place called Flax Art. Google says it's where creative people shop. Stay tuned...

Hey Puglet, I'm so excited you're going to try painting I can't wait to get my paws on a "Puglet Original". You make me all warm and fuzzy inside knowing you're going to help so many pugs with all your wonderful ideas.
Sorry you didn't get any cookies on your outing, I mean you did walk around the store right? So you worked off some calories, you should have been rewarded for all that hard work. Sometimes it's hard being a pug.

I have a feeling I know where the bigger rocks thing is coming from. My big dog brother Olli has had 3...yes 3 surgeries to remove rocks from his insides. I have no idea what the deal is with him. My humans say he is special but I don't thing they mean that in a good way. I can't wait to see your artwork! You are a pug of many talents!

Puglet....I didn't know they let pugs into Home Depot? Mom goes there ALL the time and leaves me home!
Next time I'm going too, and looking for cookies.
Hope you get your painting-paint soon,

Love

Puglet, I think its great that your mom is going to teach you to paint. My mom does all kinds of crafts but i think most of them we can't do cuz we don't have thumbs. but luckily you dont need thumbs to paint! i even found an article about a dog named tillie who has sold paintings for $2,000! imagine how many pugs you could help with that!

Puglet, mommy and I got talking and I was asking her how you were going to pay for all these painting supplies. Are you going to give up cookie/treat money? I am willing to get a few less treats and help you buy painting stuff Puglet. I mean that just means more money for pugs that need our help right?

Oh, Bellatrix you are soooo sweet. My human said I can use her paint brushes and stuff so all we need to buy is paint that won't kill me if I eat it.

$2,000 for a painting, Mimi? Holy cowpies! That much money would help SOooo many pugs. Now I totally have to learn how to do this painting thing.

I'm glad you ate dog-friendly paint, Mr Puggle! I did the same thing with a tube of toothpaste once. It was for dogs and was supposed to taste like chicken (but didn't).

Gen & Foo - I don't know if dogs are *supposed* to go in Home Depot, but there are always dogs there when we go. Even big ones like Dutch. People are always happy to see us, so why not? Don't expect any cookies, but the orange cart thingys are kinda fun:

Rosie ~ Ollie had THREE rock surgeries???

Oh no. Please don't tell my human that. I eat rocks all the time and she gets so mad. I can't help it though. Rocks are just so very... tasty!

The new ones we got for the backyard are so huge. There's no way I can eat them - it totally sucks.

Hi Puglet! I'm with Gen & The Foo - I never get to go to Home Depot. Mom says she has never seen any dogs there so she thinks that you can go in there because you live in California.

I can't wait to see your paintings Puglet. What are you goint to paint? Dutch? Your human? Maybe Penny? Just don't cut off your ear.

We have an idea for a contest that could help raise money for needy pugs & you are guaranteed to win - A Favorite Puglet Picture Contest - people & pugs can vote for their favorite Puglet picture & each vote will cost a dollar like the cutest pug contest for the pugrescue you linked us to but since all the pictures will have you in it you will surely win. We think pictures that your human take would make a lot of money for a silent auction... especially a Puglet painting original maybe even a print reproduction. We can't wait to see your art.

Hey Stubbs!

I think they'd totally let you into a Depot near you. If not, you should come live in California. Dogs can go everywhere here.

Dutch really likes The Depot. My favorite is Walgreens drugstore. They have a giant wall of snacks at the register. AT PUG LEVEL!

More good ideas Zoey & Phoebe!

Maybe I could start a pug fund? Foundation? Pugs for Pugs! That way there'd always be money for pugs in need.

We're taking the colors I picked out at The Depot to the Flax paint place this weekend. I really hope I can paint something worth selling!

Puglet- The Penguins at Moody Gardens in Galveston (where we used to live) paint all the time. It's called "Enrichment" and helps them stay not bored. Mommmy has one of their paintings in her kindergarten class. The penguins walk in the paint and then on the canvas... You could make paws if the brush thing doesn't work out!
