A SAD GOODBYE

So, BabyMac came back and HAL4 isn't in pieces anymore. But the great bacon giveaway will have to wait until Monday. I know, I know. Not too many things are more important than bacon, but this is totally one of them.

Today we got the sad news that our friend Gracie is gone. Not gone to a new home or gone like she got lost or something. Gone like went to sleep. One last time. Forever.

Gracie had cancer. The kind you can't fix. Her people gave her to pug rescue when they found out she was sick and Pug Rescue Lady took Gracie in as a foster. When the PRL found out sick meant the Big C, Gracie became a permanent pug at Pug Mecca.

I didn't know Gracie very long, but long enough to know she was a superpug. I mean, even the C-word couldn't slow her down. It didn't make her sad. Or afraid. Or anything but Gracie. And Gracie was pretty awesome.

Her life wasn't long, but everyone I know tried their best to make it good. Pug Rescue Lady took awesome care of Gracie from day one until the Big Sleep. The other pugs at Pug Mecca didn't get upset when the cancer drugs turned her into a bit of a b-i-t-c-h (especially around food) and were totally cool about letting her rule their pack.

I totally let Gracie have my spot in bed (and half my chewies) the time she stayed with us and didn't even argue when my human said she was "the cutest pug ever made". Because Gracie deserved all of the goodness we could give. And more.

Goodbye, Superpug Gracie. You will be missed.

Gracie was loved, that is easy to see... we know her foster momma is hurting.

We know that Yoda was there to greet sweet Gracie when she got to the bridge.

So sad to hear about little Gracie. You were a good friend to her and so were all the wonderful humans in her life. Bless you all.

It is so hard to say goodbye to such wonderful pugs like Gracie. Our only comfort is that there are so many of our pug friends with her at the bridge. Mom just started to leak, she always has such a hard time thinking about these things. We will have to cuddle extra tonight. We are sending lots of pug hugs to the PRL and all of Gracie's friends & family.

Hi Puglet and Amanda and of course, Dutch!
I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of Gracie...as I have a Gracie of my own and she is one feisty entertainer who I love dearly. We...my house of pugs and me...would like to do something in honor of Gracie. Is their a particular charity on the West Coast that we can donate in her memory?
Let us know.
Much Love,

PS: I have decided that if I ever come into some money that I will hire you to come out to Kansas and photograph my pugs. I need a professional!! :) ...And Puglet and Dutch could come along too!! :)

My mom is so sad to hear the news, but we are both very happy to know that Gracie was loved by so many good people and that she enjoyed her life as best she could until the end. She was definitely one of the cutest Pugs ever. Rest in peace sweet Gracie - we love you.

Wow, what a memorial, Pug. I remember you talking about Gracie in the past, she was a fabolous pug. The c-word couldn't stop her and she lived life to the fullest. Here's to you Gracie, one great little pug with a bigger than life persona.

Dear Puglet, we are sad to hear that Gracie has passed away. Cancer is terrible for all creatures. Fortunately, she was able to be loved up to and beyond the end. Now she is in no pain and in some great company on the other side.

Thank you, Puglet, for sharing Gracie's story. We miss her terribly here at Pug Mecca. Gracie gravitated toward your human on their first meeting, picking her out of a group of people and sitting on her lap like it was her throne. She had a way of connecting with people and making an impression; her intelligence and beauty were impressive and all the more heartbreaking to lose her at the young age of 5.
She will never be forgotten and will live on in the beautiful photos your human took of her. We are so blessed to have shared in her life for the last eight months and so grateful to the DP community and the pug community for so much love and support. We will continue our rescue mission in hopes of helping more pugs like Gracie and to honor those that will forever remain in our hearts.
Love Always,
PRL

Thank you for sharing her story with us, thank you prl for loving her. Godspeed Gracie, the C can't find you ever again.

Its not just the time you live, but how you live. Poor little Gracie had way too short a life, but, at least the last 8 months or so, she was loved and treated like a queen. Our humans is leaking, we are trying to comfort her. How wonderfull the three of you were part of her life. We sent lots of JuJu, but sometimes it just isn't enough.
