CAMEL OR KANGAROO?

Remember the days when I used to do stuff? Y'know, fun stuff. Like going to the grocery store to see the meat.

Those days sure were awesome.

So last night I tried to guilt my human into taking me somewhere fun to do something awesome. If you've ever tried to guilt a human into doing something you know it doesn't always 100% work, but I figured half-working is better than sitting around and being bored doing nothing.

ME: Remember the time you took me to the grocery store to see where meat comes from?
HUMAN: No.
ME: Seriously?
HUMAN: Seriously. Dogs aren't allowed in grocery stores.
ME: But I rode in a cart! There are pictures.

Arrgh. Sometimes it reeaaally sucks to have a human with a broken brain. But sometimes...

ME: So what are we eating for game night?
HUMAN: huh?
ME: Like Liver Monday but with wild meat and on Wednesday. You promised!
HUMAN: I did?
ME: You totally did.

Goodbye operation guilt. Hello gimpy brain!

Lucky for me, we live like two minutes away from a place that sells everything from boar to venison.  Unlucky for me, dogs aren't allowed inside and my human couldn't decide which kind of wild to buy and came back with no meat at all.

My human is still getting over eating liver and wants to stuck with something kinda normal. I think we should go big and eat something totally *not* normal. I mean, the whole point is to be wild. Right?

I vote for something like this:

Or maybe this:

Dutch doesn't care what meat we get as long as Dalmatians can eat it. If you had to pick something wild to eat what would it be? And no, berries do not count.

hmmm Puglet
My Mommy's a veghead so these are not even options for me. She gets squeamish with pig snouts and bully sticks. But I am thinking something wild like. . . um. . . free range chicken might not be so bad? Please?

Bless your heart, Amanda! Not even a darling Pug could convince me to chow down on those things! I will look forward to hearing a P&D update. Good luck!!! And when in doubt?? Dip it in ranch dressing! Pug Hugs, Megan F. & Lola pug

moose if you can get it, is probably better than camel or kangaroo, and has a very mild flavor. i usually have to have beef fat added in order to make it grill-able. elk or deer/venision, even if farm-raised usually tastes 'gamey' and requires getting used to it.

let us know how that works out..

I love buffalo, personally. I make chili out of it. Low fat and no gamey taste. It may not be "wild game" but I like it and it's readily available here in MN.

Puglet, I remember those good old days too and life has not been easy for you lately so I think today should be special and you get either of those awful choices.

Kangaroo is tasty, really similar to moose!

We so need to move to the left coast. You get to go everywhere and on the eat coast - no dogs allowed. Totally cramps our style.

Buffalo is our favorite wild and it's very healthy...ground kangaroo makes us puke a little in our snouts.

Go wild!

Our puggies eat Kangaroo almost everyday, (of course it might be cheaper here in Australia) it's one of the best low fat meats around. Amanda if you're really going to have it make sure you don't cook it for too long or it'll go tough.

Me: Ick. I'm a veghead like Noodles' Momma. In a pinch I might consider wild bacon, but that's it.

Scarlet: She's game for anything!

Venison is good. Black bears are better. Ducks are excellent. Once in a while we'll catch and eat a rodent but Human's don't really go for those .... Mom gets really mad!

Our mother gave us buffalo once it was soooo good. Just the thought makes us drool and pugs never drool.

Buffalo, moose, elk, or deer. All of those are great and naturally low-fat meats. You actually need to add a little oils when cooking with those.

ALLIGATOR!
Flakes like fish, tastes like chicken (no kidding).

Veg-human can also do blackstrap molasses to get a good dose of minerals. If she already likes the flavor, just add a couple tablespoons to a cup of cocoa.

I want me some aligator. I saw those on Animal Planet and they look WILD! Lucy has no clue, much less about wild stuff so I am speaking for both of us on this. Yep, gator it is! Oh, it may not be a food store but take a ride in the cart at Home Depot! They have stuff to look at that you might like and make an adventure out of it!

Bison for sure but don't forget fish in small amounts. We like cooked (gotta be cooked) salmon and halibut and sometimes cod. But not too much because of mercury. What's the point in eating a thermometer?

Keep up the campaign for meat for pups!

Puglet,
To have to pick just ONE is what I call cruel and unusual punishment.

I say stack em' up and let's get chomping!

Oh yeah, don't forget about road kill. Never met a dead squirrel I didn't like. A dried tail makes for a nice amuse bouche.

Moose is the best, not gamey tasting, and not fat.
