SOFT SERVE??

Even though I do most of the talking, I learn a lot from everyone here. So today I have a major question:

Soft serve??

This place down the street from us sells it. And every weekend people line up around the block to get it. Around the block. In the rain, at night - always a line.

So I'm thinking this soft serve stuff must be ridiculously good. But I have no idea what it is because my human always has some lame excuse for not wanting to stand in line for an hour to get me some. And I'm pretty sure I do want some.

This is what I know:

1. It's eatable.
2. Humans eat it with their tongues - no thumbs!
3. Lots of people 'heart' it.

This is what I want... no... need to know (in as much detail as possible):

1. What exactly is soft serve?
2. If you've eaten it, what's the big whoop?
3. How might I talk my human into getting me some??

My stomach thanks you for any info you can give it. Uhm, I mean me.

Oh, and PS:

The talking towel tube thing? Not afraid (but Dutch FR-EAKED!!)
Vaseline? Uhhh. Not scary.
Plastic bags? Oh yeah. They're like tinfoil's evil twin!
Hair drying machine? Only when my human points it at me.

And if we had a Hallmark Valentine's card with a pug on it that sings Boom Boom, I wouldn't be afraid. But I would probably bark my head off at it.

oh my dear puglet. you need to get your tongue on some soft serve. IT'S ICE CREAM!!!!!! there's a place by us that makes baby (or pugalier...) sized ones. sometimes, when it's really hot out, mommy gets me one. then she holds it by the cone (it's like a cookie that they pour the ice cream in!) and i lick it. it's like heaven in a million licks. you need to be extrasuper cute and convince your human to get you and dutch one.

good luck!

It's the best Puglet. I don't get it that often, but it's SOOO good. My human has a machine that she can make her own, I was trying to convince her to make some for me but she said no. Apparently I'm getting too tubey. The scale at the vet said I was 22.7. I told her that your limit was 25, but she didn't buy it. (Seems that when she can't breathe when I sleep on her belly)

Anyway....if you do happen to get a chance to try Soft Serve. Try the peanut butter...YUMMMMO!

PS - Plastic Bags are Evil - so are those HUGE plastic bags that humans carry around from the place called the dry cleaner (even though our dry cleaner has treats - just for me (pug thing))

okay, here's an easier way to get you some soft serve... fast food drive through. the one with the golden arches has a soft serve ice cream cone that is yummo! every once in a while as a treat, my mom gets me and zoe one to share when it is hot. it may not be as good as the creamery near your house, but you don't have to wait in line for an hour, so maybe a good trade-off.

Bi rite is awesome!! You're so lucky that you live just down the street from it!

Pug! I wanna go to Bi-Rite! That's like the hippest place in town! I want to try the Honey Lavender flavor! Yum Yum Yum!
But, I thought you did not like ice cream...

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ICE CREAM!!!! If you human won't let you have any, my mom has a recipe for 'dog' ice cream. We love it. She used to buy us frosty paws from the supermarket, but she said they are too expensive and now with 3 of us, it would cost way too much.

The good news Puglet is soft serve has a milk fat content of 3-6%, whereas regular ice cream has a milk fat content of 10-18%. It is yummy, but not as fat as regular ice cream, so it IS GOOD FOR YOU, in moderation of course.

So now you know what soft serve is, but I think it will be difficult to obtiain...as I recall, your human doesn't like ice cream?! You'll need your best cute/starving face for this one!

Hi Puglet!

Soft serve is like regular ice cream but softer. I LOVE ice cream. Especially French Vanilla. Mmm!! Next time you walk by the soft serve shop, put the brakes on. Hard! And when your human asks you what's going on, give her your biggest and best puppy dog eyes and motion towards the door. Hopefully she'll get the hint. Good luck!

Puglet,

Soft Serve is the best! Since Boka can't have meat we get milkshakes as rewards. Sometimes the "M" word place (can't say the name or Bokas goes nuts, silly boys) is out and we get soft serve cones. They are supper good. Next time we go to the beach maybe we can talk our moms into takings us for some.

Lucky puglet! Is Dutch afraid of Soft Serve? Since he is x3 your size, that means x3 more for you! Soft serve is perfect for those really hot 60 degree days in SF :)

Oh. My. Gosh. Soft serve is seriously the best thing on the whole planet, Puglet! There's this place near out house that we go to only when its warm outside cause my mom says that's the only time it's open (so silly, if you ask me, but humans can be REALLY silly). Anyway, Luna and I go so crazy for it that when my mom and dad want to go, they have to spell the name of the place otherwise we go totally nutso on them. We each get a small dish of the flavor my mom calls vanilla. There's this flavor called chocolate that she goes nuts for but she won't share it with me---something about chocolate being bad for dogs. Yeah, right....I think it's just an excuse to have it all to her self! Anyways, I put my whole face in the cup and always end up with the soft serve all over my Pug mug. Mom laughs at me and takes silly pictures but I don't care cause it. Is. So. DELICIOUS. Whatever you do, you HAVE to make your human take you. Maybe you should promise not to eat poo for a week if she'll take you. I promise it will be worth the sacrifice. Speaking of frozen treats, have you ever heard of these things called frozen yogurt cops made ESPECIALLY for dogs? My mom gets them in the part of the grocery store where they sell ice cream. I asked her why she didn't just buy ice cream for me since it was right next to the frozen doggy yogurt. She just shook her head and laughed. But it's good as a back up to soft serve and mom says it's healthy. Sheesh! As though that matters anyway! PLEASE ask your human to send us a picture of you and Dutch eating your first soft serve!

Snorts and snarfles,
Bella

We very rarely get ice cream but when we do its pug-divinity. I think if you, Bellatrix and the two of us stood out front we would get some for sure... your cuteness, Bells orbage and our saddest-pug-in-the-world look would melt the hearts of anyone. Phoebe suggests finding a small human eating a softserve, preferably a boy, they like sharing...this has worked for her in the past. We found her shamelessly sharing PB&J with random small human boys on two occasions and with our 4 yr old human cousin. Our human also will freeze greek yogurt for a softserve-like treat for us on hot days...maybe your human will give you some of that and its also figure friendly. Good luck with your softserve quest.

I love softserve! But I don't get it very often. =( My human makes me share MY softserve with my brother Franklin, a piggish black lab, who already scarfed his down. Try to eat it as quickly as possible so Dutch can't steal any.

Puglet, one word Picco in Larkspur. Your owner can sit outside with you and Dutch and have pizza then soft serve made with Strauss Organic milk.
