WHAT'S SLOWER THAN A SQUIRREL?

Big fat thanks for telling me how to impress Twizzle. I'm meeting her under the tree later today and will try to remember all the things I'm supposed to do. And not do.

Speaking of things I'm not supposed to do...

My human took today's video at the park yesterday when Dutch was running around like a total freak after the squirrels.
Total waste of time, if you ask me. Since he never comes close to catching one, I decided to go for something a little... slower.

Like ducks.

I didn't exactly catch one. But I came pretty close. Sooo much closer than Dutch did with the squirrels.

Holy cow--I've never seen a pug swim so fast! You should compete. You really can move through the water! Not only are you fearless, but you are an amazing fast swimmer

this video is too funny :) Puglet you've propably never heard of the French actor - Louis de Funès :) he played in this movie called Le Petit baigneur, which meand little swimmer (even though, its internationa title was The Little Bather) for me you are the sweetest Little Swimmer ever !!! and you came pretty close to this duck, if she wouldn't have wings, she would be yours ;) and your park is just great!

Whoa, look at that pug go! Who knew you could swim so fast? Natty was rooting for you...she loves chasing birds. :)

My mom has always told me that pugs can't swim, we just sink. Well, you've proven her wrong. I agree with Holy cow pies...you should enter a contest. You'd blow them out of the water! Hee Hee. Hope your date is great!

Super Swimming Puglet! I like to VOCALIZE at ducks and that is about it.
I heard they hurt when they bite you.

Why would you go into water on purpose? I must say, that is very brave of you. I don't even get my toes wet.

WOW, Pug! You're a great swimmer! We have a family friend who tried to adopt a homeless pug from PROS, and when it came to the end of the home visit, they said no because she has an uncovered pool. They told her puggies can't swim- you showed them!
I'm glad you didn't catch the ducks, but it was fun to watch you try!
Tell Twizzle she has lots of fans here at the DP. We're rooting for her to get a forever home of her own.

Hey Pug, great swimming! Most frenchies sink like canonballs, so Zoe and I don't go in deeper than our shoulders.

We've been to lots of parks around here, but don't recognize that pond...which one is it?

Thanks!
Tobee (and Zoe)

Ooooh good luck today with Twizzle, we are so excited for your big meeting with her!!!! Can't wait to hear all about it!!!!

"Le Petit Baigneur" sounds way cooler than the Little Swimmer! I hate being "petit" :(

Barbara said...

Oh my goodness...I didn't know pugs could swim, and man, can you swim! I hope you didn't get in big trouble at the park for that! You almost got a duck...if they just didn't have wings!

Hey, quick question everyone --

My human says I should have a bath before my date with Twizzle because I smell like pond scum. But I think my 'Mango Tango' shampoo makes me smell like a girl.

What do girls like better - pond or Mango??

Hi Puglet,
The only swimmer in our house is Eli. Emmitt paddles like a 'duck' and gets no where and I sink like the Titanic. Sad but true.

Now Little Swimmer (we don't like petit either) if you caught the duck what in the world would you do with it?

I caught a squirrel by the tail and boy was that a bad idea, squirrels are nasty little buggers.

Ellie from San Antonio
Just me today, Eli is with Dad and Emmitt is spending his day at the vets. He's not feeling good.

Hi Lola ~

OK. I love everyone else who helps homeless dogs, but, seriously? They couldn't adopt a pug because of a pool? That's kinda dumb.

I wish we had a pool. I LOVE to swim and all the water around here is super cold. Hey - maybe I can be their surrogate adopted pug! I could hang out, snuggle, eat their food and swim in their pool. Winning for everyone :)

Heya Tobee and Zoe (and Myko!) ~

You totally know this park - it's Stern Grove! But it's a secret part we didn't know existed until a few months ago. On the other side of that amphitheater thing, there's a small parking lot. The duck pond (and lots of squirrels) is right next to the parking lot. It's not as big as the big pond, but there's no fence :)

There's also cool little a trail that goes above the whole park and connects to the big parking lot to the little one. You should check it out next time you go!

THE PUGLET said...

Hi Ellie ~

Oh no, I hope Emmitt is ok! And I cannot believe you caught a freaking squirrel!! Those suckers are fast AND they can climb trees. Even Dutch can't keep up with them and he's got legs like a racehorse.

I didn't really think about what I'd do if I actually caught one of the ducks. They just looked kinda easy to catch so I went for it. I've only ever seen them sitting there like, uhm, sitting ducks. I had no idea they could fly too :(

Please go smelling like anything but pond. We love mango tango because it gets us lots of hugs and kisses...so if that what you're going for, mango is the best choice.
So glad to see someone showing those ducks their place! We have some who make their nest in our front yard bushes every year and it drives us crazy every time we go to the car( our human has use our leashes, she never uses leashes)

Puglet,
If only Twizzle was there to see you swim. I think she would be totally wowed by your athletic prowess.
I agree with you, Mango is girly and Pond Stink says "manly adventure dog".
P.S. I hope Emmitt is ok, too.

THE PUGLET said...

Exactly, Ollie! That's what I thought too. But it looks like the ladies like girly Mango. Weird.

if you're still here I say pond :) cute girls like Twizzle prefer pond I think ;) good luck sweet Swimmer :)

Dear Puglet,
Wow, I am so blown away by your swimming skills that I watched the video twice! I may even watch it again later. I'm with everyone else, I didn't know pugs could swim! My human told me I'd sink, so I usually don't go near the water, although I like to dip my feet and wade in when it's really hot outside. And I have to admit, if I had a pretty pond like yours, I might be more inclined to try it and prove my human wrong.
I can't wait to hear about your meeting with Twizzle. I hope she's nice and you find your forever lady friend! As far as mango vs. pond stink, I am on the fence. I love the smell of food, but I also love anything that "stinks". As a girl, I don't think you can go wrong either way.

XOXO,
Coco

My mom and Zoe say mango, I say pond. Either way I think she'll like you.

Thanks for the tip on the secret pond, we had no idea it was there.

Dear Puglet - if this answer does not come too late, I*d say "pond". It gives you this manly stink, oh sorry I mean smell which makes you irresistable! Good luck with your date, man!

Yes, pugs can swim - I swim, too. I loved your video, Puglet and you are a wonderful swimmer! And the park is just enchanting. I love those parks, too.

I once chased an armada of ducks and swans, about 60 of them or so (who will count) into our lake Wannsee in Berlin. They were all in a flurry, I wonder why. My mom got absolutely outraged and had dropped all possible cloths, well nearly all, ready to jump in the lake to save me. She also thought that pugs cannot swim. In the end I came out of the lake smiling and happy and zillons of people watched me. Mom was very, very furious with me.

Swimming is fun! Ducks are silly!

Love from Carlos

WOW Pug you are a fast swimmer - maybe you can join Michael Phelps on the US team at the next Olympics!

Take a bath - girls don't like stinky men!

I agree "Le Petit Baigneur" sounds way more sophisticated and important, as all pugs are. But either way it makes you sound wonderful. As for me, I would love to be "petit". Good luck this afternoon with Twizzle and those butterflies.

Puglet, you're maaad! You are a great swimmer, however. I don't like the water. My mom tries to get me to swim, but I jump out of the pool every time and head straight for the house; soaking wet. Ha! Payback for putting me in that pool of water.
Good luck with Twizzle today.

Wow, I was just rewatching that and you even did a little leap! in the water as you were swimming. How is that possible? Super deluxe swimming pug!

Bella said...

Wow, Puglet....you should be in the doglympics in the duck chasing and swimming events! Soooo cool! My sister L.O.V.E.S to swim but she's a total spazz when she does....she has no idea how to doggie paddle. Mom says it's because she's supposed to be an "upland bird hunter" (whatever the heck that means) not so much a water dog. Me? I am a paw-some doggie paddler but I don't really like the water so much. Whenever my mom puts me in water, I doggie paddle my tush off to get back to land ASAP. My mom thinks that's really funny. Sheesh....not so much.

Any-who...can't wait to hear about your date with Twizzle. Oh, and I'm a girl and I vote mango....I like boys who smell pretty....but hey, Twizzle might like her boys stinky, you never know! (:

Snorts and snarfles,
Bella
