PLEASE FEED THE PUG

My human always wears different stuff when she goes out at night, so I thought I should wear something special for my Big Night Out at the PugPROS benefit.

But it was too warm for my #1 favorite sweater and no way I was I going to put on the stupid lobster suit.
So I asked Google what else I could wear and found a picture of a pug wearing a sign around its neck that said "Do Not Feed The Pug!". I then got the genius idea to take out the "Do Not" part and add a "Please". Y'know, to encourage feeding *and* be polite.

[Humans love when dogs are polite & will usually give you extra food]

Anyway. I wasn't sure my human would go for it, but she totally said yes to my sign idea. She also said not to get my hopes up because the benefit would be full of pug-people and pug-people know how pugs are about food. They would not be fooled, she said.

Eddie the pug almost getting poked.

I'm not sure if she was right or not because most of the food was gone by the time we finally got there. And I also didn't get to wear my sign for very long because my human was afraid it might poke someone's eye out or something.

I still think wearing a Feed the Pug sign is a genius move and might have to try it again. And even though nobody handed over any food at the PROS benefit, I did find some very tasty leftover eatables. I just had to jump up on a really high table to get them.

Man, the food was gone when you got there? What's up with that?

Good idea though.

Oh Puglet, you are so clever! My human would definitely NOT okay a sign like that! In fact, she keeps threatening to make a "Do NOT feed the pug" sign for me because of my stupid allergies and stuff. Sheesh! When the delivery people come to our workplace they've tried to give me dog cookies. Now, there's a "Do NOT..." sign posted at the door!!! *sigh*

That sign is a great idea!!! I'll have to remember that the next time momma wants to dress me up!!

Pug, that sign rocks! And very cool of your human to let you wear it. I can't believe that no one gave you any food though. How rude! Although I bet Dutch is happy to hear about that since he was stuck at home...alone. Maybe you should try wearing the sign next time you walk down the street or go on one of your adventures?

Puglet-

I like the idea of the sign. Maybe next time you try it, you should make a round sign - you know - so your human can't pull the "poke an eye out" excuse.

Ohhh Puglet, that sign is awesome! If I had one, I'd never take it off.
I agree with Mookie, a round sign would certainly put an end to poke-in-the-eye concerns.

Pug, dude....I just asked mom to make me a sign like this. I'm going to wear it EVVVVVERYWHERE, especially when I'm sitting in the front door (all glass) looking extrasuperpathetic. Maybe then I won't have to wait HOURS in between foodables!

Thanks for the idea buddy!

Love,

Summer is quickly coming to an end here in New Jersey and that means, fall is coming soon and that means we’ll be allowed back on the boardwalk to strut our stuff. Mom thinks wearing signs is a great idea and she said that we can each wear our own. We’re still working on them but so far this is what we’ve got:

For Lea = “Will perform tricks for food”
For Roxi = “Will bark for food”
For Riley = “Will sit and look cute for food”

OMG, we can’t wait!!

Oooh, the round sign idea is doubly-genius! I don't think anyone was *really* in danger of losing an eye - I just think my human wanted to starve me.

NJ Puggles -

I like your sign ideas too. I think humans are more likely to hand over their food if they think you've worked for it. Like the way the always make us sit for treats. It's some sort of thumb-control/power trip thing, I think.

Noodle - DUDE!

A DO NOT FEED sign? Really? That sucks. I now you have allergies and everything but... to see it in writing like that? Every day? UGH. Sorry :/

Super idea, Dear Puglet,

I love your photo and the story - too bad you were not entertained in grand style wearing such a sign! But your human is right - pug people kind of see reality different from non-pug people.

Well*sigh* what I thought was a diet now seems to be my new pug life style. I mean it will be "furever" or so, give or take one sausage or two inbetween. Please make it rather two.

I am working on a sign -in German, English and for good measure in Turkish (Arabic?) - but she says I am overdoing it. It's Ramadan and I fear there will be no food for me before 9 PM or so from my Turkish and Arab friends. So let's keep the sign simple - German and English for the tourists will do.

Desperate diet greetings from Berlin (I had tripe again, chicken, lamb and *yuck* vegetables - I am about to starve!)

S-Dog,

Make sure to tell her to make a round sign so there won't be any "but it might poke an eye out" stuff!

I think Dutch really felt left out when he smelled all the strange smells on me. I almost felt kinda bad for him

My mom says I don't need a sign because my granma and gpaw feed this pug no matter what.

Love the video! I am going to make a sign and wear it 24/7. In fact, maybe I should have it tattooed on my backside so everyone will feed me. Thanks for the idea!

Hi Pug -That was sign was genius! You know how I get tasty snacks? I have two year old twin human siblings. They are always dropping something...cheerios, goldfish, carrots. My human is always trying to pick them up before I can get to them which is a bummer. Sometimes I am quicker than her and I gobble those snacks as quickly as possible!

Puglet..what a great idea and going to use it...can't wait to walk around my hood with that sign...I know I will get lots of treats with that on!

And, I think Dutch needs a special night out...I mean I know everyone loves pugs and all but Dutch is sooooo handsome and he needs to have a night out too for everyone to see him and for him to feel all special...don't ya think? Just saying....

Puglet, I was happy to share the chair with you, but that sign around your neck was dangerous! Whoever suggested "round corners" for your next begging gig is so smart :)
Maybe see you and Dutch at the next SF Pug Sunday?

Hey Puglet. I actually had to go to work today with a sign that said "No Treats, Please. Doctor's orders." Mom says I have to wear it at work until my poo is a little more pick-up-able. Apparently it's been a little more like soft serve for a few weeks. Heck, what do I care? I don't pick it up!

Puglet, that face you are making looks so desperate! Like you really are starving for food or something! lol What a riot! I like how your sign's all askew.

my grammaw's boyfriend (he's not related by blood and mom hates him) almost gave me my own bowl of ice cream once, no sign required. he said "hey can mimi have some vanilla ice cream?" she said yes, but when he brought out a whole bowl she quickly interjected so i only got one spoonful. you shouldn't need a sign, cuz like all pugs you are super adorable. you just need to beg better! you cozy up, do the head tilt, maybe whine a little and BAM, instant food.

Absolutely brilliant Pug!!

Pugs must have invisible Feed Me signs that all humans but parents can see..I'm telling you Mom has to watch me like a hawk because people are always trying to give me naughty snacks. Kitty must really see the Feed Me sign because she is always leaving tasty poo piles for me too.
Too bad the food was already gone by the time you got there Pug. Boo.

I saw you in Minnie & Max's video on Facebook! Very clever idea-did it work? Did you get extra noms? :)

Eddie the pug looks very upset; probably not from nearly being poked in the eye but from not having a sign that reads "feed the pug!" I think I would be upset too, if I were Eddie. I think all pugs need a "feed the pug" sign, though that might be redundant since who can resist feeding a pug?? I know I can't.....
