AND THE WINNER IS...

A 1658 pound super-pumpkin from Des Moines, Iowa. We went to see it yesterday while waiting for the bad news about the Hansen's contest.

Super-pumpkin is 5' 4" tall and more than 14 feet around the middle. Its human drove all the way to California to compete in
Half Moon Bay's 36th annual World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-off. We watched them unload it from the back of a big truck using this yellow fork-lift thingy that made Brother Dutch a little nervous.

The human who made the giant pumpkin said these suckers can grow about 30 to 40 pounds a DAY. That's like two whole pugs worth of pumpkin!?! My human says you can make tasty pies out of pumpkins. You know how many tasty pies a 1658 pound pumpkin must make!?!

Here's a clip from our local news. If you make it to the last few seconds, you'll see me sitting on the super-pumpkin for today's photo.

Dear Puglet,

Hi Puglet! I have been out of commission for the past few days because my Dad was in the hospital. He's home now and I'm catching up on all the blogs.

I'm so bummed that you didn't win the Hansen's contest. Mom was voting (on her phone)from the hospital last week and even turned on a bunch of computers at the college and voted on them. Despite all that, someone else had more votes.

You are still a winner in my book Puglet. And you made it into that cool video with the pumpkin. You and Dutch always get to do the coolest things. Mom loves Half Moon Bay and says I would too.

Stubby xoxo

Yeah, I'm kinda bummed about the Hansen's upset. The clouds here are leaking up a storm. I think they may be sad too. Maybe the contest Gods have something else in mind for me?

Stubby! Glad to see you back. Please pughug your mom for trying so hard and give your dad a great big snort to help him feel better!

Lola - how's the new house?

Hi Miley!

I saw me on the TV too. You know how I always bark at animals on the TV? Well, last night I barked at MYSELF during the news previews.

DOh!

The new house is fabulous! We lived in an apartment before, and now we have a house with a yard... and a doggy door. That thing is sooo scary! My mom pushed me through it, and then my girl, Whitney, crawled through to show me it was ok. It's a size XL, so she fit nicely, even though she's 12! I'm still not too sure about it, but sometimes it's ok.
Thanks for asking,
Lola

Lola,

You get a whole house?? Cool! We live in a compartment, but it has a doggy door too. That thing reeally freaked me out at first.

I mean, if you're a pug you have to push the door open WITH YOUR FACE. It takes some practice to get the head-butt technique down, but once you do you'll never have to wait to pee again :)

Pug - you were robbed!!! We demand a recount!!!

So cool to see you on the news - thank your mom for putting the link up. You'll be the world's most famous pug yet!!

Hi Frodo!

One of my human's friends mentioned a recount too. Said something about a hanging chad? I don't know what that means, but it made the humans laugh.
